Foaming is a colloidal system of dispersed or tapped gases as a fine bubble, which can lead to reduced yields since bursting bubbles can damage proteins and can also result in a loss of sterility if the foam escapes. In bioreactors, foaming can lead to over-pressure if a foam-out blocks an exit filter.
PROBLEM IN TEXTILE INDUSTRY
- Dense foam lead to serious entanglement of fabric wit consequences of stoppages of machine, uneven absorbency and patchy dyeing.
- In the dyeing of hanks and knitted fabrics, foaming of the dye liquor can cause the material to flout resulting in uneven application of dye.
- The foam is printing paste, especially in rotary screen and roller printing machine can cause "fish eye" spot on printed fabrics.
PROBLEM IN RUBBER INDUSTRY
-When mill is in use, the rubber is covered with air, resulting in insufficient vulcanization and air bubbles on the surfaces and will lead a hinder the production process and the foam will reduce the quality of the products.
To prevent the formation of foam, mechanical foam breakers, ultrasound or, most often, the addition of chemical antifoaming agents (or "antifoams") are added to destroy existing foam and added system in order to prevent the foam occurring. Many additives cause foaming problems, but if slurry foams excessively, during mixing, centrifugal pump will air lock, and mixing must be stopped. Therefore antifoams are introduced in cement slurries to decrease foaming and minimize air entrainment during mixing. Excessive foaming can also result in an underestimation of the density downhole and cavitation of the mixing system. The additives modify the surface tension in the cement slurry so that foaming is prevented or the foam breaks up.
However, our product, DSA-88 (Anti Compound) is a robust antifoam oil at room temperature with acid and alkali resistance. Simple emulsification and dispersion. DSA-88 is very stable and excellent defoaming ability.
